Palomar Health Salutes Nurses in Celebration of National Nurses Week

Sharing is caring!

SAN DIEGO, CA — May 6, 2025 — As California’s largest public healthcare district, Palomar Health is proud to recognize its extraordinary team of nurses during National Nurses Week, happening May 6–12, 2025. Nurses are the heart of Palomar Health, providing expert, compassionate care that touches thousands of lives across the region. Their commitment to healing, comforting and promoting health is what brings the organization’s mission to life every single day.

Palomar Health Honors Nurses for National Nurses Week

Palomar Health’s dedicated nurses are central to the health system’s many recent awards and recognitions. The Villas at Poway, Palomar Health’s skilled nursing facility, was recently named a 2025 Best Nursing Home for both short-term and long-term care by U.S. News & World Report, while both of Palomar Health’s medical centers also earned “A” Hospital Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group. Palomar Health also earned recognition on Newsweek’s 2025 lists of both World’s Best Hospitals and America’s Best-in-State Hospitals. These national recognitions are a testament to the care and compassion Palomar Health’s nurses provide to every patient.

“Our nurses are the cornerstone of Palomar Health’s repeated excellence and recognition as one of the nation’s top healthcare organizations,” said Diane Hansen, president and CEO of Palomar Health. “This Nurses Week we want to recognize the tireless effort our nurses put forth, from their long hours to the compassion they extend to every patient.”

However, the real story of Palomar Health’s nurses is told in the moments that don’t make headlines: the comforting words whispered during late-night rounds, the teamwork in a bustling trauma bay, the fierce advocacy for a patient’s needs and the compassion that lingers long after a hospital stay ends.

Throughout the year, Palomar Health supports its nursing staff with professional development and mentorship programs. Celebrating Nurse’s Week at Palomar Health is about something deeper — recognizing their humanity, honoring their impact and thanking them for all they do to lift others up, even when their own burdens are heavy.

“To every nurse in the Palomar Health family, thank you. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, the compassion you offer and the lives you touch,” added Hansen. “Your strength redefines what’s possible in healthcare, and your heart makes it matter.”
