PUNE, Feb 6: VIBGYOR High, Hinjewadi marked the 77th Republic Day celebration with Familython, a community-centric fitness initiative that brought together over 400 participants ranging from 3 to 80 years of age. The event reinforced the school’s focus on holistic education by combining physical fitness, civic awareness and community participation.
The Familython was designed as an inclusive celebration of national pride and well-being, encouraging families to participate together through physical activity and a shared sense of purpose. The day began with an energetic Zumba warm-up session, followed by 3 km and 5 km run categories that catered to participants of all ages and fitness levels.
The event was ceremonially flagged off with traditional Shank Vaadan by Mr Ameya Deshpande, creating a culturally resonant and patriotic atmosphere. Distinguished guests present at the occasion included Mr Gode, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Chinchwad Traffic Control, and marathon enthusiast Mr Mangesh Kadu, who inspired participants to adopt fitness-oriented and disciplined lifestyles.
Strengthening the civic and environmental ethos of the celebrations, Wing Commander Punit Sharma (Retd), Founder of Pune Swachh Bharat, addressed the audience along with his core team—Mr Satya Natrajan, Mr Rahul Mohad, Mr Naresh Sonawane, and Mr Aditya Agarve. Emphasising civic responsibility, environmental stewardship, and community-led action, Mr Sharma highlighted the role of citizens, especially youth, in shaping a cleaner and greener India. His address resonated strongly with families and students, reinforcing the power of collective action in driving sustainable social change.

All dignitaries were felicitated by Principal Dr. Nirmala Tomar in recognition of their contribution to the event and their ongoing support for community-oriented initiatives. Participants in the 3 km and 5 km categories were acknowledged with medals and certificates, while the wider community was applauded for its enthusiastic participation.
The celebration concluded with families marking Republic Day in a manner that blended national pride with purposeful action, reinforcing the importance of health, unity and civic engagement.
