May 21st, 2024: “Welspun World, a rapidly expanding global conglomerate, has announced the appointment of Mr. G R Arun Kumar as Group Chief Financial Officer, effective from the May 20, 2024. Based in Mumbai, Mr. Arun Kumar will play a pivotal role in Welspun World’s ambitious growth strategy. The Group Finance & Strategy, Group Investor Relations, Group Mergers & Acquisitions, and Growth Strategy teams will directly report to him.
Mr. Arun Kumar will be instrumental in partnering with the board and businesses in Welspun World on their 3 year and 5 year plans, driving group-level financial strategic planning, overseeing M&A and inorganic growth, managing fund raising, treasury, investor relations, and external stakeholder management.
He brings nearly three decades of experience from global and Indian multinationals such as Ola, Vedanta, General Electric (GE), and Hindustan Unilever. He has demonstrated expertise in finance and strategy, managing business growth and turnaround, overseeing large-scale debt and equity capital market transactions, governance, reporting, compliance, operations & organisation building.
Prior to joining Welspun World, Mr. Arun Kumar served as Group President & Chief Financial Officer at Ola, Bangalore, where he played a crucial role in establishing Ola Electric as India’s leading EV company. Prior to that he served at Vedanta as Group CFO managing the balance sheet and the finance function through commodity cycles. He led international teams at GE in global roles and built robust business & finance foundation skills through multiple roles at Hindustan Unilever where he started his career.
Mr. Arun Kumar is a gold medallist commerce graduate from Loyola College and an FCA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India – national rank 17th.
