MCCI organized a discussion

10th June 2023, Chennai:Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) under its initiative ‘Food for Thought’, organized a discussion on “ChatGPT: Boon or Bane” in Chennai today.

ChatGPT is a revolutionary piece of expertise driven by AI technology that allows anyone to have human-like conversations and much more with the chatbot. ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) was launched in November 2022 and gained over 100 million users worldwide. India is the second largest country using ChatGPT, next to USA in terms of number of users.

Millions of professionals, including marketers programmers, educators, students, researchers, copywriters, doctors, scientists, journalists, and others use the tool to enhance their work.

Privacy concerns, challenges to cyber security, legal implications, propagating misinformation, threat to new jobs, ambiguities, and inaccuracies among others are the major concerns of ChatGPT.

In the discussion on the opportunities and challenges of ChatGPT,Dr. Harish G Ramaswamy, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CSE and Centre for ResponsibleAI, IIT Madras, Mr.V. Chandrasekaran, Director and Co-Founder, Congruent Solutions and Mr. Prabhu Stanislaus, IT Consultant in AI & RPA shared their views at the event.

More than 100 participants took part in this event and the feedback was positive.

Food For Thought (FFT) – an initiative of Madras Chamber started in its 175th year takes up larger issues and debatable subjects of topical nature involving the economy, civil society, business and the community as a whole and provides a platform for open discussion and interaction. The Chamber has held more than 60 such FFTs over the years.
