IMS-DIA Students Engage in Experiential Learning at National Cottage Emporium

Noida, 24th sept 2025: Students of IMS–Design & Innovation Academy (IMS-DIA) undertook an academic enrichment visit to the National Cottage Emporium, New Delhi. The educational tour offered them valuable exposure to India’s rich handloom and handicraft heritage, diverse design traditions, and contemporary market trends. During the visit, the Fashion Design students engaged in an in-depth study of traditional textile styles, colour combinations, embroidery, weaving techniques, and innovative design elements.

Professor (Dr.) M.K.V. Nair, Dean of IMS-DIA, said that “this academic enrichment initiative broadened the students’ creative perspectives while connecting them with the practical aspects of the industry. “The visit enabled them to gain a deeper understanding of Indian art and culture, inspiring them to refine their creativity in line with the evolving demands of the global fashion industry. Such experiences will significantly contribute to their future design projects and professional careers,” he added.”

IMS-DIA CMD Ms. Shilpi Gupta highlighted that” the institute consistently emphasizes providing students with hands-on exposure. “This visit offered an opportunity to understand the depth of Indian art and culture and to channel their creativity in new directions. Practical knowledge and professional experiences of this kind are crucial for preparing them to meet the expectations of the global fashion industry,” she said.

Professor (Dr.) Vikas Dhawan, Director General of IMS Noida, remarked that such experiences give students a fresh creative outlook and help them hone their skills to match the dynamic requirements of the international fashion sector. “This visit not only allowed them to closely observe traditional handicrafts and design techniques but also helped them develop an understanding of modern-day market needs, laying a strong foundation for their professional growth,” he noted.
