The 185th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) Meeting of Tamil Nadu was held on 06.02.2026 at Chennai under the Chairmanship of Thiru T. Udhayachandran, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, GoTN. The meeting was convened by Indian Overseas Bank, the Convenor Bank for SLBC Tamil Nadu.

The meeting was attended by Thiru Dhanaraj T., Executive Director, Indian Overseas Bank & Chairman, SLBC Tamil Nadu; Ms. Uma Sankar, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India; Thiru S. S. Vaseeharan, General Manager, NABARD; Secretaries and senior officials of various departments of Government of Tamil Nadu; senior representatives from RBI, NABARD, member banks, and Lead District Managers of all districts.

In his address, the Additional Chief Secretary to Government emphasized sustaining Tamil Nadu’s strong economic growth trajectory over the coming decade, leveraging the State’s demographic dividend. He stressed the need for enhanced credit flow to MSMES, agriculture, women entrepreneurs, and SC/STs, while strengthening financial inclusion and last-mile credit delivery.

The Committee reviewed the performance under the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) for the quarter ended December 2025. Against an annual ACP target of 9.00 lakh crore for FY 2025-26, banks in Tamil Nadu achieved 7.56 lakh crore, registering 83.97% of the annual target and surpassing the proportionate target for December 2025. Further it was informed that all the districts achieved the proportionate target under APY FY 2025-26. Priority Sector advances, including Agriculture, MSME, Education Loans, Housing Loans, and implementation of various Government-sponsored schemes, recorded steady growth. The agenda was presented by Ms Vijaya N, Convenor of SLBC, Tamil Nadu, & General Manager, Indian Overseas Bank.

The meeting also discussed progress under financial inclusion initiatives, banking expansion, support to Self Help Groups (SHGs), strengthening of the MSME ecosystem, and district-level credit monitoring mechanisms.

The SLBC meeting serves as an effective platform for coordinated policy implementation, review of credit flow and collaborative efforts between the State Government, RBI, NABARD and banks to accelerate inclusive and sustainable economic development in Tamil Nadu.
