Aug 11: Pune is set to mark Independence Day with a celebration of diversity, inclusion and empowerment as Ekrang 3.0 – “Celebrating Inclusion, Empowerment & Possibilities” takes place on August 15 at Balkalyan Foundation, Aundh.
The day-long event is being organised by Ghumakkad and Ahilya, founded by social impact leader Soma Gupta, in collaboration with Aashayein, with the support of Nayi Disha and Fashio O. KOVE Early Intervention Centre by KLAY has come on board as the title sponsor of Ekrang 3.0 – “Colour of Inclusivity.”
Positioned as a celebration that seeks to shift the narrative from sympathy to solidarity, Ekrang 3.0 will bring together neurodivergent individuals, their families, educators, professionals and members of the wider community through a series of activities centred on inclusion, participation, recognition and meaningful connections.
The programme will begin with the Ghumakkad Inclusion Circle, offering parents, educators and professionals an opportunity to connect, exchange experiences and strengthen an inclusive support network.
A key highlight of the event will be the Wings of Hope Awards, which will recognise neurodivergent children for their achievements, determination and journeys of overcoming barriers. Bhushan Patil will be the Chief Guest for the awards. The Aparajita Awards will honour parents for their resilience, advocacy and unwavering support for their children, with Nisha Ghosh as the Chief Guest. Millennium Semiconductors is supporting both the Wings of Hope and Aparajita Awards.
Another important segment, “Designing Synergies – Shaping an Inclusive Tomorrow,” will bring neurodivergent and neurotypical young adults together to foster friendships, leadership and real-world opportunities. Shringi Dubey will be the Chief Guest for the segment.
Adding colour and confidence to the celebrations, the Inclusive Family Fashion Show, supported by fashion partner Fashion O, will see families take to the ramp together, celebrating diversity, acceptance and individuality. Deepakshi Shringare, Mrs India Runner-Up, will be the Chief Guest for the fashion show, alongside Gauri Gadgil.
The Ahilya Bazaar will provide a platform for women and neurodivergent individuals to showcase their entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and products. A food court will also add to the festive atmosphere, offering visitors an opportunity to come together and enjoy the day.
Speaking about the initiative, Soma Gupta, Founder of Ghumakkad and Ahilya, said that Ekrang 3.0 represents a collective commitment to creating a society where every individual is valued, every family feels supported and every woman is empowered to realise her potential. She emphasised that inclusion is not merely an idea but a practice that can be brought to life through collective action.
The event reflects the broader work of its partner organisations. Ghumakkad focuses on creating inclusive travel and community experiences for neurodivergent individuals and their families, while Ahilya works towards empowering women through entrepreneurship, networking and mentorship. Aashayein, a Pune-based therapy and life-skills centre, works with children and adults with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other intellectual disabilities. Nayi Disha serves as a resource and community platform for families of children with developmental disabilities.
For title sponsor KOVE Early Intervention Centre by KLAY, the association with Ekrang 3.0 reflects its commitment to inclusion, with a focus on early identification, timely intervention, personalised support and meaningful participation. Its multidisciplinary approach brings together therapists, educators, medical professionals and families to support children in learning, growing and participating not only within therapy settings but also in the wider community.
The event is further supported by collaborators including Natasha Pilakudy, Inclusive Education and Mindfulness Expert & Consultant; Neha Hurkat, Founder and Director of Fashion O by Vastra Designing; and Janhavi Ghare, Founder of Tune Town Inclusive Stage. The event will be hosted by Vinamrata Bhaita.
With recognition, networking, entrepreneurship, creativity, fashion and family participation at its core, Ekrang 3.0 aims to redefine the meaning of independence by encouraging freedom from stereotypes, stigma and exclusion.
