Tamil Nadu’s strong manufacturing base is reflected in Flipkart’s growing seller ecosystem, with nearly 70,000 sellers from the state using the platform to reach customers across India. From the knitwear clusters of Tiruppur and textile hubs of Erode and Salem to Kancheepuram’s silk weavers and Thanjavur’s artisan communities, businesses are using digital commerce to take products rooted in Tamil Nadu’s local strengths to a national market. Flipkart’s dedicated seller growth teams in Tiruppur, Erode, Salem and Chennai support businesses with onboarding, cataloguing, logistics integration and capability building.

This growing digital commerce ecosystem is also contributing to livelihoods across the state, with more than 1.3 lakh direct and indirect jobs supported across Tamil Nadu. Flipkart’s supply-chain footprint has grown to more than 25 lakh sq. ft., helping businesses reach customers faster while strengthening the infrastructure that supports digital commerce across the state.

Tamil Nadu is also an important technology hub for Flipkart Group. Its Chennai data centre is one of the Group’s largest technology infrastructure investments in India, supporting critical group-level operations, with a significant share of its power sourced from renewable energy. Tamil Nadu’s deep technology talent and renewable energy ecosystem provide a strong foundation for Flipkart to further scale its technology operations in the state.

The state’s digital commerce ecosystem is expanding beyond traditional e-commerce. Flipkart Minutes has grown rapidly in Tamil Nadu, with more than 90 micro-fulfilment centres across the state. More than 1,000 electric two-wheelers, representing around a quarter of the delivery fleet, are deployed across Tamil Nadu, combining the growth of digital commerce with the state’s focus on electric mobility and cleaner transportation.

“Tamil Nadu is an important part of Flipkart’s long-term growth story. The state brings together a strong manufacturing ecosystem, deep technology talent and a growing digital economy. Our work with sellers and MSMEs across the state, our technology infrastructure in Chennai and our expanding supply-chain network are helping connect Tamil Nadu’s businesses and communities with customers across India. We look forward to deepening our partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu and contributing to the state’s next phase of digital, manufacturing and economic growth.”Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive Officer, Flipkart Group.

Through our Samarth initiative, Flipkart is working to expand national market access for Tamil Nadu’s MSMEs, artisans and handicraft producers. The programme is also working with TN-RISE to create market-access opportunities for women entrepreneurs, startups and Farmer Producer Organisations  in the state.

Flipkart’s engagement with Tamil Nadu’s producer communities also extends to agriculture. Through Samarth Krishi, Flipkart sources fresh produce from FPOs in the state, helping connect farmer collectives with organised demand and wider markets.

The Flipkart Foundation is supporting community initiatives in Tamil Nadu, including coastal clean-up programmes that have mobilised more than 2,100 volunteers and reached approximately 6.9 lakh people, alongside programmes supporting vulnerable communities in southern Tamil Nadu.

Across the Flipkart Group, Myntra adds another dimension to the state’s digital commerce ecosystem, working with sellers and brands across Tamil Nadu and helping knitwear and apparel producers from Tiruppur and Erode access customers across the country.

Cleartrip also contributes to Tamil Nadu’s growing tourism economy, connecting travellers to the state’s diverse destinations; from Chennai and the temple circuits of Madurai, Rameshwaram, Tiruchirappalli and Thanjavur, to the hill stations of Ooty and Kodaikanal and the business and leisure corridor of Coimbatore and the Nilgiris. This complements Flipkart Group’s broader role in connecting businesses, consumers and communities through digital platforms.

Flipkart looks forward to deepening its partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu across technology infrastructure, digital commerce, sustainable logistics, financial inclusion and community development, helping create greater opportunities for businesses, farmers, artisans and communities across the state.
