Running from January 30th to February 1st, 2026, at the JSID campus, this marks another year where the institute serves as the only selected campus in New Delhi to host this prestigious event. For what is essentially a 48-hour sprint, Global Game Jam brings together designers and game developers to create cutting-edge games with a theme.

Event Details:

  • Dates: January 29th – 31st, 2026
  • Venue: JS Institute of Design, 39 Lajpat Nagar III, Near Moolchand Hospital, Ring Rd, New Delhi 110024

A record-breaking 35,000+ people attended last year’s 2025 edition, which took place at 803 sites in 97 countries. In the end, these groups and individual creators produced an astounding 12,000+ games, a strong 20% rise over the previous year. “Diversifiers” are available to participants who wish to add some interest. These are optional creative limitations that give your approach to game production a distinctive twist. Using Diversifiers will enable participants to differentiate their game, challenge themselves, and enhance their experience. You can pick up to 4 Diversifiers when submitting your game.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Global Game Jam and provide a platform for game developers and artists to collaborate and innovate,” said Nien Siao, Dean at JS Institute of Design. “At JSID, we aim to incorporate industry-relevant skills and creativity amongst our students through various events. Our initiatives have attracted over 500 participants, converging diverse perspectives and expertise to nurture the next generation of game designers. Building on this commitment, we actively take part in innovative events, providing a chance for our students to showcase their creativity, connect with industry professionals, and establish valuable industry relationships.”

India’s gaming market has been on a tear lately. Projections have hit $15.363 million for 2024, with forecasts suggesting it could triple and land somewhere in the $35,593 million by the early 2030s. The player base has exploded too – 488 million gamers were counted in India during 2024, and that numbers expected to climb to 517 million this year.

Students studying game design are exposed to the real workings of the industry through events such as these. JSID seeks to promote the future generation of game designers, developers, and innovators by working with creative and industry-relevant events that give them a chance to demonstrate their skills, learn about the industry, and make important contacts.
